Jovie’s Room
Monday, April 5, 2010
I’ve promised (for months now) to post pictures of the baby’s room. The rocker is actually my grandfather’s (Dad’s dad) so it has a lot of sentimental value. And, yes, those are real birch trees. I finally feel like most everything is in it’s place, sans baby of course.

Welcome Baby Caleb!
Saturday, October 31, 2009
It’s been a crazy week! Our 2nd nephew, Caleb, was born last Friday. Eric and I went up to meet him and be with the family, but I stayed for a week in Poplar Bluff to help out as needed. I had the awesome privilege of watching my 2 1/2 yr old nephew. I feel like I really got to know him and his little personality so much better. Normally we only spend a weekend every month or so with family, so it was great to be with them for an extended stay. Here’s a few pictures of our sweet baby nephew! I love the second one - Nathan was a little uneasy around Caleb when he cried at first, but you can tell he loves his little brother so much! Please keep Caleb and his family in your prayers as they adjust to having a new family member (i.e. little sleep).
Henderson Park Inn
Sunday, October 18, 2009
We recently took a week long rest-cation to theĀ Henderson Park Inn in Destin, Florida. This is our second experience with a Bed & Breakfast and I have to say it’s leagues better than a hotel. Every morning there was a full breakfast buffet with a chef making made-to-order omelets and waffles, plus a boxed lunch (you pre-ordered the sandwich type the day before) from Honeybaked Ham. It was a definite change of pace from the last vacations at Disney World and the cruise a couple years ago. While we both loved the do-nothing itinerary we “planned”, I still had thoughts of Space Mountain and Epcot in my head. Maybe it’s because I get bored easy
It was a much needed time to relax - here’s a few pictures from our week.
The Day After Yesterday
Thursday, August 6, 2009
….which happened to be my birthday. I’m not the type of person that likes to be in the spotlight - in fact I like to be in the darkest corner away from it as much as possible. However, there is something about the day after your birthday. It’s always a step down from the day before (unless you had an awful birthday). There’s no way you can really top it, and you won’t be treated with as much respect and good will for the next 364 days until your next one. That said, I had a terrific birthday. Eric came home early and I wrapped up work after lunch so we could spend some time together. Basically my iPhone was my early birthday gift, but he also got me two new board games to add to our collection (Life and Monopoly).

On an unrelated note, our backyard is really blooming right now, so I’m sharing some pictures. Our crape myrtles just started blooming this past week and our roses and day lilies (and potted annuals) all look so healthy and bright. I’m thinking of doing a climbing plant next spring - does anyone have any experience with Maypop Passion Flower or Sweet Pea?

And on a really unrelated note, I’ve been addicted to Arrested Development on Hulu. I watched the first two seasons earlier this year, and just started the third a week ago and am re-addicted. If you haven’t seen it…well…you’re missing out:
France Trip Photos
Friday, July 31, 2009
Sorry for the lack of posts. It took us a few weeks to settle in again after we got back, plus work for both of us was pretty intense this month. We have two fairly big projects going on at the same time (our freelance business) and Eric has just finished an awesome micro site for Long Hollow that he’ll probably post about later next week. You can find our photos from the trip in the right bar under Photo Albums.

La France, Ici Nous Venons!
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
As some of you may or may not already know, we’re departing for a mission trip in France on Wednesday morning. We’ll be helping with a kids camp where we’ll be teaching English through Bible Stories; we’re really excited!
We would appreciate your prayers for safe travel and divine appointments as we serve overseas. If you would like to follow the progress of the trip, you can get the latest news every day at http://blogs.longhollow.com/france09. We’ve also set up a special Twitter account just for the trip that you can follow here.
Look for lots of stories and photos when we return!
